Zuzia's summer holidays at the Baltic Sea, Poland
Hello everyone! today I will tell you about my last summer holidays at the Baltic Sea.
Before travel we had to choose good locality, there were so many! I will give you some examples of them:
- Gdańsk
- Kołobrzeg
- Władysławowo
- Łeba
- Dziwnów
And more others! : D
When we finally chose our place to stay, we started exploring. We started with Mierzeja Wiślana:
Mierzeja Wiślana is a sandy shaft on the south-eastern shore of the gulf of Gdańsk. There’s many attractions like:
Krynica Morska.
It’s a tourist destination with a seaport and a summer bathing area. One of the most beautiful places at the Polish seaside:
Lighthouse/ Sea lantern (Latarnia morska) - Krynica Morska is famous mainly for the lighthouse built there. The lighthouse is 53 meters high. From the lighthouse windows you can admire the beautiful views of the Gdańsk Bay, the Vistula Spit, the Vistula Lagoon and Frombork (the city). The lantern was painted red to make it visible from a distance:
Pirate Mountain (Góra Pirata) - It’s a dune 40 meters above the sea level. Pirate Mountain is a great place for people who are interested in bird watching. Along the entire route, there are boards with drawings of species found in the area and information about their habits, migrations and lifestyle. If you are going to go on this mountain you should remember about taking appropriate shoes.
Park Krajobrazowy "Mierzeja Wiślana" - There are many dunes here, one of the tallest dunes is a dune called ,,Wielbłądzi Garb” which reaches 49.5 m. above the sea level. You can also see lots of animals there and ambers after storms.
After our trip me and my family decided to go to the beach. When we got to the beach we noticed that there must have been a storm earlier because we found many ambers. Ambers are different in terms of their size, shape and... things in them! Yes, not in all ambers but in some of them you can find even insect or plant remains:
Ambers are called ,,The Northern Gold” and ,,Baltic’s Gold”. They are used to make jewellery and even medicines!
When we found some ambers we decided to go to the sea. The Baltic Sea is young, not very deep and low salty. While we where in the sea we saw some interesting animals. In the Baltic sea you can meet three species of seals: grey seal (foka szara), nerpa, common seal (foka pospolita), you can also see seagulls:
These are two types of jellyfish in the Baltic sea, one of the bełtwa can leave burns but don’t worry bełtwa lives in the deep sea, the other one is chełbia modra, you can meet this jellyfish close to the shore and it can’t burn you. There are also cormorants and porpoises:
Thanks everyone who reads my blog! I hope it was interesting.
